Born in Breda, the Netherlands in 1966. Moerel studied fashion design in Rotterdam (NL), and received an BA Hons in sculpture from Exeter, England. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1991 with a Masters Degree in furniture design. In 1993 she moved to New York City, where she worked for 10 years as freelance designer, artist, and taught furniture design at Parsons School of Design from 1995-1999. Recently she moved to Madrid, Spain, where she established her own design studio/gallery. Her work consists of a cross-over between the different disciplines of Fine Art mainly sculpture, photography, and instalations and Design furniture, lighting, product and interior design. Besides producing her own work in limited editions, she also works for internationally acclaimed design companies such as Cappellini, Covo, Fiorucci, Offect, Ozone and Wilsonart Int., organises and curates design exhibitions both in the USA and Europe, and teaches industrial design at the Instito Europeo di Design in Madrid. Both Moerel’s Art and Design have been published and exhibited extensively worldwide.
